Should I sell this Winter or wait until Spring?

This is a common question that pops up every year during the cold winter months. The simple answer is there is no reason to wait until Spring.

In our current market there is a strong demand for homes and a low inventory. Selling now sets you up with an increased probability of buyers who show interest, more showings, and a multiple offer situation. More buyers are ready and hungry for homes. In general, the trend is for less homes to hit the market in the winter months. This means that again you have an advantage by listing. Rather then your home being lost in the shuffle of hundreds of other available properties, yours will stand out. You will get more exposure and more interest. Think of it as a big fish in a small pond vs. a little fish in a huge ocean of other fish.

Buyers who are looking this time of year are typically more serious about buying. You are less likely to get the "looky loo's" who are just out browsing homes on a warm sunny day with no intention of buying. If buyers are out braving the weather, they are serious and not wasting your time.

Your home can shine it's brightest during the holidays. Nothing screams home sweet home like a Christmas trees, twinkling lights, a cozy fire and the smell of gingerbread fresh from the oven. Setting the mood helps potential buyers feel at home and envision themselves living there which will can bring you more and better offers!

There is no better time then now to start the next chapter of your life. We often anticipate the future and wait or hold out for better. Better rates, better offers, more money, better weather, better market....but the truth of it is, what do you loose by waiting? What if that "better" doesn't come ... or even if it does down the road what scarifies have you made waiting for it? You've decided to move for a reason and it's time to honor that reason and embrace it. It's time to move into that bigger dream home and raise a family, or downsize to less maintenance, or move across country to be with a loved one. It's important to remember the reason for selling. Your dreams shouldn't have to wait for better weather. :)
